2003 Access datebase self running ?

by chaingang / December 13, 2004 10:22 PM PST

I created a database and had to delete the VBA and access 2003 completely from the suite due to security restrictions. I dont have access on the PC anymore but still can open my database. It is a locked down version and can do everything it was designed for but restricts any type of editing or access functions. It opens the switchboard and will run all the query's. Its a mystery how this is still running without access installed. Does access have the capability to create a self running database that would explain this. I know power point can create a presentation to run without the program so maby access can do the same.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Very interesting article, Im still alttle confused cause it works with all my databases and I never created or save the way the article states. I did see what the database opens with an is says:
MS Access for Windows
The other MS applications just say MS Word, MS Exel. So im wondering when I un-installed it may of left a viewer in windows.

MS Access 2003 should not run without Access installed unless you're using Access Run-time software ( known as Office Developer Edition in previous Office versions).

Is Office Developer Edition still some 1,000 plus dollars?

Many cringe when they find out the price...
