20 inch cinema display

I updated my 17" screen for a new 20" cinema display on my G4 MDD dual 1.25 os 10.3.9 2Gb ram. Did the calibration and the system recognises the right displyay.
When I download create or save any file to the desktop, the system puts the file in the lower right corner of the desktop. the new files land always on the icon that's already there before.After a few times all the new files are on top of eachother. This didn't happen on the 17' display.
A cure any one?
If i set download/save etc to a folder ofcourse there's no problem.
This is a new posting as I think no one previously understood the real problem.

for those interested:
I enlarged the icons a bit on my desktop and magic all new items are displyed in sequence now.
VIEW - Show view options icon size 44x44.
