$20 .00 tip

Let me say the good stuff first.I got the Sony KDS-R60XBR1 for $3,375.00 cash plus $75.00 for shipping.
Yes it is Sony authorized dealer.Yes I explained to them it was to be brought down stairs into a basement were my viewing area is.
Now the bad part the deliveryman as in one person driving a van arrived at my home with my TV in the back an hour late. Secoundly he ask me can I help him take it out of the back of the Van.You are probably asking yourself as I did what the 75.00 was for.Needless to say we had to take it out of the box and manuver it down the stair and I mean manuver.Sweating and grunting all the way. After this Herculean feat.He new nothing about setting the TV up.Luckily with my help we got it working after paying this !!!!! gentleman he ask me for $20.00 tip!!!!!! Yes I ask him what the 75.00 was for and he proceeded to say for delivery. I made it clear to his boss prior where the TV would be set up so he should have brought appropriate man power, meaning more than one person.Yes at his time I had thoughts on my mind that would have landed me on the cover of the N.Y Post. But I refrained from such behavior do to the fact this place was recommended by a coworker and my 4 year old son was present.
The nerve huh.I gave this miscreant 5 dollars and told him to take a hike. Now what I want to know is this a NY thing or what??????By the way the store located on Canal St. In China town.

I had a somewhat interesting twist with regards to your story buddyluv.

Allow me to narrate....

It was a week before the superbowl and my wife and I ventured into Circuit City and I did my usual weekly ritual of ooowing and wowing at the big screens, including what was to be my next tv. Although she didn't know it, I had already made up my mind a long time ago, the KDS-R60XBR1 was going to be mine..

Although I could sense that she wasn't as hyped up about checking out tv's as I was, she totally surprised me and said, hey, if you really want it, we can get it. Needless to say, this was in part because we had just gotten rid of our roomate who was renting our basement, so we now had an entire level to furnish and make it our own. Spending countless hours painting, hiring ppl to replace carpet, buying gym equipment and purchasing furniture, all of the sudden my wife realized that my beloved KV36XBR800 wasn't big enough for the basement and it looked almost non-existent.

Fast forwarding to the wheeling and dealing after going to best buy and paying an extra 100 bucks for them to move my 36" XBR up two levels to our bedroom, I was quite content. To my surprise, the day that the 36" was to be moved upstairs, these 2 kids showed up and I was almost amused because they had no idea what they were in for. Long story short, they had to call for reinforcements (3 more guys) and in the process of moving the tv, my walls got scratched and the tv did as well but it was mainly on the back of it, so I wasn't too worried. That night I called best buy and spoke to the manager and got the extra charge waived because of the screw up with the scratches on the wall and the tv, and they also gave me a $150.00 Monster HDMI cable for free. Yes, FOR FREE.

Once the saturday prior to the superbowl came and the tv was to be delivered, the guys from best buy did a decent job delivering and placing the tv where it was to sit on (a bush VS stand in a nice cherry-like finish, which we got at circuit city for 140 bucks because it was the last one).

So, aside from this stupid story (mainly b/c I'm bored out of my mind and have nothing better to do, LOL), I would highly recommend that you have a couple of words with that store manager and get your delivery charge refunded to you and if you raise enough hell, they will kiss your *** enough and offer you some kind of incentive to keep you happy. Once that happens, call you local BBB office and file a complaint with them. In my opinion, I find it very unprofessional and totally wrong for an employee of a retail store chain to request bluntly a gratuity for his or her services, especially, since you paid for a service so you wouldn't have to move a finger.

Oh, btw, you got that tv at a hell of a price. Over here in Virginia, those sets are selling for 4500 still. I got it for substantially less than that.

I spoke to my friend who refered me to them. Then I called them and they were very apologetic. He even admonished the driver well I think he did there was a lot of yelling in the background but it wasn't in ENGLISH!!!!!!He said he valued me as a customer and said he would take care of me next time if there is a next time!!!!!!
As far as the price I definitely got deal.I saved at least a thousand dollars on the BestBUY or Circuit City,PC Richards price.By the way the picture is fantastic and the Tv looks great on my BDI Avion 8529 stand.I got the sound hooked to Onkyo reciever Tx-DS787 Polk front and center speakers Velodyne 15inch subwoofer Bose AM5 two side surrounds and Bose 161 speakers for the back surrounds.I'm sitting on a Lazy Boy leather chair with heated massage.I left some things out because I felt myself sounding like Stewie!!!!!HA HA.....
So is this a NY thing or what.
