2 tvs same room need separate remotes

Dec 25, 2014 1:49AM PST

Den has 42" TV and just added 24" TV, planning to use the new one as a digital picture frame only, streaming photos from network computer. Problem is, can't turn either TV on or off without the other one doing it too. There must be a workaround, but I haven't been able to find it.

Just something to block the IR-receiver in the small TV. That suffices to have it not 'listen' to the remote. I assume it still has a physical on-off button, and that's the essential part in a digital picture frame.

It's a common complaint.

So far folk have been exchanging sets till they find models that don't collide. Almost always you must not put the same make in the same room.

I did watch it but...

Thanks for the interesting video. I already use a Universal remote, a professional version that controls all of our gadgets beautifully. However, it turns both TVs on and off when used, as both use the same IR signals. So, I don't believe the Harmony Home Hub would solve our problem.

I can't write it would either.

Kees has the best solution short of returning products that don't meet our needs so I added this as a possible just in case you have a store with a liberal return possibility.
