2 recycle bins in desktop properties

Sep 3, 2007 6:17AM PDT

Hey All,

My OS recently crashed (lost my NTLDR file). I have XP Pro. I reloaded the OS (repair) and said to save exhisting files. Well, it wiped everything. I was able to recover quite a few things with "recover my files" program. BUt there are still a ton of "desktop folders" that I can't find. Physical drive was NOT formatted.

Under desktop properties, it shows I have 2 recycle bins, One empty and 1 full. But I cannot physically locate the full one. I am thinking this is where a ton of things were sent when the reload was in progress.

Any help would be great.

At http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=901022 we find the usual recycle bin cure. I've used this in the past to clean up dual bins and more bin "issues."

-> But of keen interest is to use a file browser such as Gyula's Navigator so you don't have to deal with Explorer's "blind" method of browsing.

I bet you'll fix this wagon.

HI Bob,

The Gyula's Navigator couldn't find the recycle bins either. Nor can I find them in explorer. Strange, Strange, Strange,

While I can find the "Recyler" I never expected Gyula to show it as the Recyle Bin.

Recheck those notes...

You did not delete the recycler directory? I know most will not be able to do so with Explorer so I noted what I use.

Oncilla1, If you mean Desktop Properties>Desktop tab>Customize Desktop button>General tab there should be 2 Recycle Bin icons-full and empty. These are only icons used for the Recycle Bin which you can change the icons by hiliting the icon and clicking the Change Icon button. These icons don't mean you should actually have 2 Recycle Bin Desktop icons.

Thanks Tufenuf,

Since the recycle bin on my desktop is empty, why is there one that says full. I thought because there was a full one, my lost folders might be in there.

What I am really looking for are some folders that used to be on my desktop. I had to reload my OS ( NO format ) and they got wiped. I was able to find a few with "search" but I cannot locate the others. I know they're buried on this physical drive somewhere.

Remember that Desktop Properties will show 2

One empty and one full. This is the PREVIEW of what the icon on the desktop will look like.

I missed it and was thinking you had a real issue (broken recycler).

-> Just settle back and read all the replies except mine...
