Question

2.5 sata to 3.5 ide connector

Mar 13, 2017 7:38AM PDT

Hi...I have an old pc which is of the 3.5 ide hard drive type but the old drive I have is now useless - is it possible to use a 2.5 sata type hard drive via some type of connector to run the computer please ? Sorry if this seems a basic question but I`m not conversant with the inner workings of computers and have been using laptops for some years now - this is an old machine that I want to use for running some projects on and if it can be put to use,so be it.

Hope you can help,

Thanks,

I found them to be hit or miss so for IDE, I just go get some IDE drive.

Thanks for the reply...it was just an idea as the old 3.5 drive is no longer working - (I was using it via an enclosure and it was knocked off a table and now ceases to function ) as it`s old tech now I just had the idea of trying to use a spare 2.5 sata to run on the old machine - guess I`ll just go with sorting something newer out --- thanks again for your answer.
