Question

2.4ghz network becoming slower and slower

Mar 26, 2018 2:08PM PDT

The past few weeks I have noticed that our 2.4 ghz network is becoming slower and slower for each day that passes. The 5ghz one is completely fine.
I tried to reset the router and even changed the network channel. I had 150mbps download and 100mbps upload for like a month ago. The 5ghz one has always been 350-380mbps download and 130 upload. Now I get like 30-40mbps download and upload on 2.4ghz. What should I do to fix this?

Any help is appreciated Happy

Answer
If you have a cable ISP

your network is shared with your neighbors. DSL ISP's typically have slower speeds but you don't share bandwidth to others in your neighborhood.

Are they allowed to do this?

Is there a way to get the "old connection" back? Surely they should not allowed to share the network without even telling.

Thanks for adding that.

As to sharing by the ISP, yes. You allowed this so if that's the case, you have to find where the off switch is.
