2.4ghz keyboard problem

Dec 7, 2009 2:04PM PST

I've tried several wireless keyboards which working on 2.4ghz frequency -
Trust, HP and MS and i get annoying problem with all 3.
When i'm selecting multiple files in windows explorer with Ctrl and left
mouse click the selection is disappear after holding Ctrl longer than 10-
20 seconds no meter how many files is selected.
I'm not tried keyboards on 27mhz because i need longer range in my working space.
On wired keyboard that is not a problem, only on wireless. Batteries is
new and fully charged and the distance between keyboard and usb receiver
is only one meter or less. I tried all 3 keyboards on other home computer
and the problem persist.
Models are:
HP Wireless Elite Keyboard
Trust DS-4700
MS 713W
Is these keyboards faulty or problem is in 2.4ghz transmision somekind memory problem?
What experience have other users of using wireless keyboards on 2.4ghz?

I'm using windows7 4gb ram.

Live with it . . .

Wireless devices, specifically keyboards with batteries, are designed to shut off after so many seconds to conserve battery power. Even TV remote controls are designed with that feature if they are laid down and a button is pressed.

Either select fewer files or go wired.

Just changed a mouse over that issue.

Repeats the common issue with bluetooth devices and wireless in general.

"The last problem with this mouse is that it goes to sleep VERY frequently. There is no specific information on the mouse's sleep functions in the manual, but it appears that it goes to sleep after about 20 seconds of idle time. After the mouse sleeps, it takes about a second for the mouse to reconnect with the computer. The one-second reconnect time is not bad, but it gets really annoying when you are reading a document or a webpage and the mouse keeps going to sleep before you are ready to scroll down to the next page. It the mouse waited a minute or five before going to sleep, this would not be a problem."

The reconnect time was less than a second here but after a few months I had enough and went with the Logitech v450 nano.

force longer transmision time with software solution?
Dec 8, 2009 3:42PM PST

thank you for reply

i'm possibly dreaming but is it possible to force wireless transmision by some software? I'm not bother about faster consuming of bateries.
Why keyboards manufacturers dont make that kind of software solution for customers whos willin to acept shorter time duration of bateries?
Because today exist much better rechargable bateries than before.

And looked around, there is no offer of software to change this.
