1an1 hosting fraudulent practices

Burnt too.

Signed up for 5 domains a year ago. Their site is so terrible that I never managed to "manage" my account by turning off auto renew right away. Wouldn't work. One death in the family and illness later - it slipped my mind. So comes the day I get my renewal notice saying I'll be billed in the next seven days ON THE DAY OF THE RENEWAL.

Tried to cancel. Never got it to work. Tried to shut down auto renew - surprise that is difficult too.

Tried to get a refund - instead sent an email with a link to cancel the account with the message that it's a non-refundable renewal - they're keeping my $54.95.

Yes, I know we've all come to expect aggressively wrong policies from seedier websites like emusic. But from the largest web host that has a difficult if not inferior account management? How convenient that I coudn't turn off autorenew immediately after registering my domains.

If you've been burnt by 1and1 too and want them to hear - go to change dot org to sign a petition for them to act more like a reputable and respectable web presence.
