1998 Jeep Cherokee Auto Transmission

by 94lt1chevy / August 1, 2010 2:55 PM PDT

I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee w/auto transmission. When driving I would completely lose all gears. I pull over and stop then try all gears forward and reverse, nothing! I shut off motor, sit for a few minutes then crank it back up and I have gears again it will drive about 100 yards or so then it starts spinning, no gears again? I got it home changed trans fluid and filter. Drove it for about a month then it happened again, no drive gears shut off motor then re crank and it has gears for about 100 yards or so then no gears again? Got it home again, did nothing but let it sit for a week. Have been driving it for about 2 weeks now, everything seems OK? What could be causing these symptoms, I am not familiar with this transmission, could it be a solenoid,or a modulator or trans PCM ??? Thanks 94LT1chevy.
