Look at the battery and/or the cables as well. When no power is cranking but simple items like the clock and radio work, you may have a poor connection or weak battery. Regardless of appearance, if original battery cables, replace it probably needs it anyways. Make sure the contacts themselves are clean and bright fr best operation. A cable may look OK, but corrosion can run the length of the cable buried under the coating not being seen, heck its a '88 yr.. -----Willy ![]()
I have an '88 Delta 88 that just had the starter replaced and now a new issue has arisen. After going to a movie I came back out, put the key in the ignition and turned it. The car began to turn over normally then everything went dead, I lost all power and the car wouldn't try to start any longer. It wasn't like when you have a nearly dead battery or bad alternator, there was no clicking sound. There was nothing. No lights of any sort, nothing. I set there for about 20 minutes repeatedly trying to start it. Adjusted the steering wheel and boom, power back and it started. The next morning went out, started it no problem, drove to work. Then at lunch the same issue arose. This time no amount of steering wheel adjustment helped. Everything is dead. Although occasionally if i jiggle the key enough while I turn it back or forward I'll get a faint ding and sometimes the overhead light will come on faintly but as soon as I turn the key the power is gone again. Any thoughts anyone? Any and all help is so greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
