This is a general statement and not one I'll debate. Japan was known to stick to a frame or wheelbase for years at a time. So unless you saw drastic changes over that model year(s) then odds are in your favor.
It doesn't mean it will be an exact match. Even inside a year I've seen rehabs that required a mounting tab added or removed.
I'm not a car refurb person. Just have friends that are.
Hey there. Just this week I bought a 1987 Chrysler Conquest/ Station knowing that it would be a bit of a project car. As a part of this, some of the frame will have to be welded so seal up some of the rust it's acquired. I haven't had the time to check how extensive the rust is and whether I will need a full frame replacement. While looking around on Craigslist I found an 86 station that was totalled, but had no frame damage (just the front panels). My question is, is it possible to put the 86 frame on my 87 if need be? I'll be doing a full inspection tomorrow to see how extensive the rust is. Thanks for the help.
