180 Women, Children 'Massacred' at U.N. Camp

by RB2D2 / August 14, 2004 9:07 PM PDT

This is so horrendous. As is all that has been going on in this area. Can't it be stopped?

Attackers armed with machetes and automatic weapons raided a U.N. refugee camp in western Burundi, shooting and hacking to death at least 180 men, women and children, U.N. officials said.

Burundian Hutu rebels claimed responsibility, insisting the camp for Congolese Tutsi refugees fleeing tribal fighting was a hide-out for Burundi army soldiers and Congolese tribal militiamen.

But most of the victims appeared to be women and children. Their charred remains lay among the cooking utensils and the smoldering remnants of their former homes on Saturday.

Let's see, Rosalie: People flee to this camp in the expectation that they'll be safe under UN protection. That didn't happen, any more than in happened elsewhere in that area, or in Somalia, or in Bosnia, or in Kosovo, and on and on.

So, why do we keep hearing from the John Kerrys of the world that working through the UN is the hot ticket? Seems to me that the fastest way for an oppressed person to get slaughtered is to seek the "safety" of UN "protection"...

In reply to: I'll bet...

Everybody complains about it but no one does anything about it. Or something like that. Happy

How do the people that run the UN get in that position? And why is it so lousy?

I'm appalled at the animalistic and murderous attitude an army can display. Sad

These aren't armies, Rosalie; they're groups of thugs with modern small arme. Armies - true professional armies - have three things that these murderers do not: Discipline, training and restraint around noncombatants. These beasts go out looking for noncombatants to kill.

Weren't these the same thugs that had previously mauraded the countryside offering the choice of "longsleeves or shortsleeves" as they cut off their victims' arms above or below the elbow?

Look at all the arguing between Democrats and Republicans in this country, Rosalie. Now, imagine wildly diverse countries with different religions, beliefs on sactity of life, warfare, and different military and economic backgrounds. Now take a handful of representatives from the mix and tell them all to get along and make good decisions. See the problem?

This is not about "getting along", this is about slaughter.

Wanton, senseless killing of 180 innocent men womem and children apparenlty for blood lust. This army,or whatever it is, reminds me of a pack of wild dogs.

Since they are a pack that runs together I would think they could and should be found and arrested or shot where they stand.

WOW! I don't believe this!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
