It was horrible... ;)
Feb 2, 2015 7:03AM PST

I piled wood inside for 3 days worth or so. Now, I had to shovel to get to the woodpile and then unwrap the trap, but i have to shovel the snow off it. In other words, I have to do manual labor. All other snow I can plow out or shove aside with the tractor and then hope its enough. Usually, it is, but there's ice under the snow due to melt and such. Then if its too cold, await the battery charger warms the battery and get enough juice for the diesel to start. Today, I was lucky it all came together w/o a hitch. Now, all i have to do is b*tch when the state plow covers my entrance/exit to the property, yet again. I already had to repair the mailbox 2wks. ago, when they blasted it off the stand. I'll post some pix later. At least I didn't lose power(knock on wood) due to the snow storm or wind. -----Willy Happy

I think Maryland will miss it again, like the last one. A lucky year for us, so far.

we got but a dusting. As I recall, Rt 30 in Ohio was a dividing line. Anything north of that line was a risk in winter.

Notice in the moving van pix, that's a 24-30in. difference maybe more, I have to have a running start upon exiting the drive. Otherwise, if traffic or ice is so bad, I can't make it. More than once, I had to stop due to on-coming traffic that isn't seen until I emerge. -----Willy Happy

I get just one pic and not access to the slide show. However, I see that I can buy a framed print of the moving van for only 47 bucks! Happy

For me, the link works once. If I exit and click it again, I get the second frame only. If I exit FF and restart, it works again but one click only. Maybe it's this stupid Linux you talked me into. Happy

Same version on Win 7 and Mate 17.1 with FF 35.x. With the first click, the link ends in .html so I can view the slide show. The next time it ends with .jpg. Exit/restart FF and the same. Not a tragedy, however.

a nice pole barn with light admitting panels on it too, a great workshop area. Did you have the inside sprayed with expanding foam to insulate it better?

Ha...no it rains(condensation) inside
Feb 4, 2015 1:41PM PST

I ran out of $ long ago. I was lucky to get it finished and have the help when I did. I even had to build higher by roughly 2ft. because we hit bedrock too quickly. Enough to sink the 6x6 poles in and put the pearling around. Then a big storm and an oak tree fell wiping out(still in frame) by the door all those. That was a cheap fix, just replace and mount the paneling later. The insulation wasn't done because we're talking at least 20ft. sides and 24ft. peaks or more, also spray wasn't an option then. It was heck of time to mount the lights when I did and electricity came 3yrs. later. Being on a budget is tough and really I had other needs. The idea was to store the bigger equipment inside out of the direct weather. The only mistake I regret is not having a longer roof line over the big door to allow snow to slide further away. It refreezes and locks down the door, but I hardly have reason to open during winter very much. I plan to mount a front facing garage type door when $ is available, its framed already, just buy the dang door and do it among all the other tasks.
Of course, i have to win the lotto. -----Willy Happy

just to foam spray the roof
Feb 4, 2015 3:10PM PST

if that building is 40 x 40 foot in size (roof 44x40) would be $1000 to $1800 per inch thick foam, depending on if it was open cell water delivery or a closed cell foam. Not sure that would keep all condensation away, but likely it would all form only on the walls then at least, instead of dropping from ceiling on items (and you!) inside it.
