17" monitor at 1024x768 ?

Jan 29, 2006 5:42AM PST

I want to get a monitor that's 17" and run it at 1024x768. My understanding is that 17" LCD monitors are native at 1280 x 1024 which is kind of tiny. But I've been told that at 1024 the screen will be kind of fuzzy because it's interpolating between pixels. The other alternative is a 19" CRT (a 17" CRT is only really about 15.8"), but I have very limited space in my computer desk (a height restriction of 15"). It's a handmade oak desk so throwing it away is not an option.

So here are my questions:

1. Is there an LCD monitor that would run OK at 1024?

2. What about an LCD TV?

3. Is there a CRT that would work?

Any suggestions will be *much* appreciated.

Thanks!

Donald
