17 inch screens

by EllenMT / March 1, 2007 10:54 AM PST

I am looking at purchasing a HP 17 inch screen model. Does anyone have any advice to offer on battery life? I will mainly be using this computer at home and for picture editing, movie editing and music. I think the 17 inch screen seems nice to have for the pictures and videos but I don't want something that will eat the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just got a 17" Acer with Dual Intel / IGB / 120 RAM, and so far it is awesome. So far battery last between 2 & 2 1/2 hours. I got a magazine from APC that showed some batteries that last from 6 to 8 hours. I haven't had time to look into the cost yet. I went from ME to Vista, so the learning curve is huge. I will have lots of questions, but Sundays are my laptop @ home days. I hope I can can find a good forum site for help with Acer & Vista. The only problem so far is that the Comcast Rhapsody player will not work with Vista. I don't think Comcast plans on lowering my bill due to this.............lol.

Thanks for the help Jerry. I'm glad you're enjoying the 17 in monitor so much. I think I also have decided to go with this monitor size. I figure why not!! I'm excited! Thanks again!

Oh.... if you find out about costs for a better battery for the 17 inch monitors, can you let me know? Thanks!

Check out www.apc.com.
I haven't fully checked all batteries, but saw one for my Acer that I think is good for SIX hours / $199.00.
I'll look around more tonight.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
