Changing the resolution

will alter the text size.

Or you could do what I finally admitted to myself, your eyes are not so good, go get checked and get glasses.

I use 1920 X 1200 on my iMac now

Same problem
Jan 10, 2011 6:42PM PST

My sister recently bought a 17" macbook pro and the screen is really hard on the eyes. When she changed the screen resolution, the internet pages were much wider than the screen so that didn't work. Changing the font size doesn't change the size of the options on the screen such as 'file' 'edit' etc. If anybody has an answer to this, it would be much appreciated.

There is no way

There is no way to change those. It's been that way since at least the beginning of Mac OS X, and pretty sure it was that way in OS Classic, though there weren't too many hi res screens back then.
