Question

16 GB Ram, 120 GB SSD Hard Disk and Laptop still slow!

Jun 5, 2016 4:24AM PDT

Hi there, I have a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook . Product number: J0D67EA#ABD
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Service Pack 1.
AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz
16 GB (14.9 Usable) RAM!
Why is my laptop still slow? I am about to get a heart stroke when i try to edit my videos on powerdirector. There is no other programs like photoshop or aftereffects. I only have powerdirector 13 and it freezes the whole time. What can I do?
Thank you very much

Answer
The AMD A8 is an OK APU (CPU) but not a speedster.

My son had one for a long time and we had to stay on top of everything to keep it in top forum.

Let's compare the 6410 to say an i5.

The 120GB SSD is on the small side so that could be a factor.

There are other factors such as a non factory install of Windows has been a big source of slow PCs along with McAfee and more.

PS. Have to add a note about HD Video editing.

HD Video editing is going to be slow going. Patience is going to be tested. Cold molasses might more faster.
