16 bit windows subsystem error message

on boot i get this message

system\current control set\virtualdevice drivers.vdd Virtual device driver format in the registry is invalid. choose close to terminate the application

what's the deal?

The virus and security has posts daily about spyware. It's growing more virulent and I'm seeing messages like this on boxes daily now.
