You don't have to spend $1,600. The Compaq Presario V2000Z is - I think - the best laptop fr you. Configure it whit the same configuration than th Sony and you'll see of much you'll save. Sony is too expensive for nothing. And the graphics controller is much and much better than the Intel Integrated chipset.
Only if you do A LOT of multitaksing, you should take the Core Duo, but this last isn't ready for the future because it doesn't have the x64 bits technology.
Make your choice
I am going to order a new laptop, and I can't decide between the HP Pavilion dv1000t or the Compaq Presario V2000z/t. They are similar laptops, but clearly the Compaq is cheaper. I also considered the Sony Vaio FJ270P, but I decided against as I have heard mostly horror stories from Sony Vaio owners.
Mainly what I'm looking for is a powerful, widescreen 14'' Laptop, very portable, with at least 1.83GHz processor, 80 GB Hard Drive @5400 RPM or more, integrated wireless internet, and at least 1 GB of RAM.
I was also hoping for a discrete graphics card, but I couldn't find a single 14'' laptop that didn't have the graphics card integrated.
The HP, Sony and the Compaq were the three choices I narrowed it down to. Also I can't spend over $1,600. If anyone owns any of these three laptops please let me know your experience with them, or if anyone can offer a better choice for a 14'' laptop (except Dell), that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
