100% CPU usage-strange

Is it normal, that although I do not run any software my CPU usage shows CPU at 100% and a fan is on + RAM @ 1/3 (out of 1.5Gb-I've installed an extra module)? This is a brand new Toshiba M40 with Pentium Centrino 750 (1,86 Ghz)-2hrs out of the box, not even connected to the internet yet.

And if still bad, call it in for warranty. This should not be your first experience out of the box. Make sure you tell them it is 2 hours old and how troubling this is.

-> Also, you may have XP's INDEXING SERVICE enabled and it's working. It takes hours for it to finish.
