10,000 Photos to Scan, Distribute and Store!

Nov 8, 2004 9:59PM PST

I have about 10,000 photos to scan from 80 years of picture taking. Some are black and white, most color, some small, most 3x5, and a few some wide Advantix and slides.

My intent is to scan them, categorize them, add notes (where I can), print copies as needed, put some on web pages, store them on my hard drive, and create DVDs by category and for archival purposes. My questions are:

1. What resolutions should I use?
2. What software would be best for album creation?
3. How should I store the physical photos for safekeeping?

Please suggest would be best.
