Lisa,

you ONLY have to save the new update file into your Grisoft > AVG > Update folder. If you saved the file somewhere on your computer - copy it and then paste it into Grisoft > AVG > Update folder. After that - open AVG and let the new update install itself.

that didnt work either- i looked and heres what it sais on the info tab of my avg
version 6.0.605
virus database 385
i noticed that for the past 2 weeks i seemed to have alot very tiny updates- i think i dont have a new enough version to get the newest updates- is that possible? i could uninstall and reinstall avg if that would be best- will check back soon- have to run hubby to the doctor. thanks marianna so much for the help

I dont know how but finally got an update- i tried downloading the one they refered to but it would not download, i click it and no download box would appear.- infact i tried most of those on that page, same thing , no box. - and finally one took- cant remember which- it took but didnt seem to update the info on the AVG- so i turned the machine off and went Shopping- when i got back i tried the automatic update again- after 2 hours of a very very very slow download it finished- so im up to date Finally- but not sure what i did still...

Lisa, good job ! Maybe you have a look at KevMo's post
Mar 3, 2004 5:36AM PST

and do exactly how he describes it to get 3 servers in your AVG !

I'm an amateur so I hope I don't step on any moderator's toes... With my browser window open to Marianna's tip: My Computer>Drive "C" (or whatever letter your hard drive is labeled)>Program Files>Grisoft>AVG6. Open URL.INI, copy text, open notepad, paste text and "save as" url.old in that same AVG6 folder. Copy text of Marianna's tip from the open browser window, open notepad, paste text and "save as" URL.INI. in the AVG6 folder. When it asks if you want to replace existing URL.INI, click Yes. Close everything and try updates. That was it and it's working great. Good Luck.

I understand that part- its what is going into the new that i dont get- iM supposed to copy and paste it to new notepad and name that one- url.old, but what all goes into the url.ini- it has what i copied to the old one- does that stay in the new one or get deleted?
i sound pretty stupid right about now- but in the url.ini i need to know if i keep what is there and paste the 3 server stuff with that - or delete that and paste the 3 server stuff in its place-

I hope I can tell it the "easy" way Happy

What is IN your url.ini NOW - save it AS url.old

Then make a NEW one via notepad with the info I had posted and save THAT one as url.ini

O.k. ??
