$1,600 Samsung LED Paperweight

by vivian_m1980 / August 5, 2014 1:05 PM PDT

I purchased a 46 inch LED 46D6050TF smart TV 3 yrs ago from my local costco store. I was very happy with my purchase at the time. I spent the cash because I thought I was getting a quality product from a company like samsung. I'm a single person that uses the TV during the week for 2 hours tops at most a night.

I've had the tv for 3 yrs and I noticed all of a sudden a split screen starting from the top of the display to about 3/4 of the way to the bottom. I took it to the samsung repair centre that was recommended to me and without even looking at the TV they told me it was the screen and quoted over $1000 to repair. This didn't sit right with me. How can a major component just fail like this? I asked that he take the TV apart and investigate further. He confirmed that it was the screen and charged me $65 for his time.

I have called 3 times to Canada Samsung customer service looking for some sort of assistance with their product but have been turned away. I am not a rich person by any means but I buy top of the line to make sure it lasts. How can a company like samsung not even offer to help cover at least a portion of the repair costs? I never asked for a brand new TV. The TV to produce probably didn't even cost them $1000 -- it would be nothing for them to appease a customer to keep them loyal and continue buying samsung product. I'm very dissatisfied and will be now looking at LG or Sony in the future.
