I'VE downloaded the free avg software several times. it always downloads too quickly, then gives me the error 0xE001C04B when it tells me it can't install the software.

i'm using windows vista, using an hp pavilion, mozilla firefox & i disabled my firewall in order to make sure it downloaded. I also added cnet as one of my trusted sites.

can anyone help me?

CNET's AVG Forum
Jan 19, 2010 6:10PM PST

CNET now has a dedicated AVG forum here;
http://forums.cnet.com/avg-forum/?tag=rb_mtx;f06-fd

AVG Techs help out there and you may be able to get better answers if you re-post in that forum.

But some thoughts...

1] Download AVG from where? Which web site link?

2] When you download, are your browser settings such that any download runs automatically? If so, try downloading the installer file to your Desktop first, then run the installer from the Desktop.

3] Have you tried a different browser, eg Internet Explorer?

4] Does your Firefox browser have any 3rd party Download Accelerator plugin installed? If so, try disabling that first.

5] What type of internet connection do you use? If it is dial-up, can you get the download from some othr source, eg relative or friend with a faster connection, then copy the downloaded file onto a CD.

You may want to discuss all those in your new post.

Good luck.

Mark
