That XP CD from Microsoft has no current drivers and "driver update" doesn't get them. Do you think the XP install is not done yet?

You installed XP, the SP2 but not a word about drivers for motherboard, video, audio, etc. None of these are automatic, none of them are retrieved by the "Driver Update" button and every CD I had with some thousand machines is out of date.

Look to me as if you installed XP SP2 and nothing else. Time to get the rest of the install done.

In reply to: Let me be blunt(er.)

I have installed all my drivers..
look I can play any other game with out getting lagged..(I meant no 100% usage for any other games)

I have soundmax onboard audio chip..
intel extreme graphics
mother board intel 865 GBF

and all drivers needed are installed..
Look I am a user of windows xp from past 4Yrs ..
do u think I will do such noobish things..
Moreover I don't think I can't even launch my game without installing audio or video drivers..

so pls suggest anything which is other than driver updates or driver pbms for I don't see why everything which normally worked turned against me all of a sudden.. I have done this formatting and reinstalling in the past too no pbm like this ever happened with me..

We don't use that word here.
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / January 27, 2008 8:41 PM PST

But I see you have McAfee. Some gamers complain about it in some situations. Here's the deal. It worked before but you can never duplicate that since the OS, McAfee and other softwares have been updated since those days. Also you have the issue that it's an online game and your internet connection can be laggy as they are doing odd things to "shape the bandwidth."

As it stands I don't see any open issue. You claim the drivers are current and more. I don't care for that one product but that is not a damming indictment. Just my opinion to use anything else but that or Symantec today.

well I have a plain xp installed too
by solpro / January 27, 2008 9:11 PM PST

I mean no antivirus or anything..
Just to check whether it was any programs conflicting ..
well in that too I have installed all drivers..
just an xp with nothing else other than warcraft and necessary tools..
still when warcraft is launched.. cpu usage creeps to 100%..
ok now abt internet lag.. even if i play with bots it makes cpu usage creep..
can't even play normal game..
so internet gaming for the time being is out of question..

tnks for the reply bob

I don't see anything stragne

In reply to: updated log

I wouldn't call gigasetshell (whatever it is), msn messenger, yahoo and google toolbar, java necessary programs.
If you want a clean install for troubleshooting, do a clean install, activate the Windows firewall and nothing more.

And what is the CPU usage of these running processes (look in task manager)?

hi tnks for the reply

well gigaget is a substitute for download managers.. far effective than a download manager.. msn I need it as I have to maintain some imp contacts.. anyway java is needed for some web based things to work for me.. so I cann't remove any of them..
ANd personally I don't think anything fishy abt these standard installations.. well I had mcafae firewall before.. personally I don't like windows firewall.. but how can firewall be an issue when I cann't even play regular warcraft with my comp bots..
well I have checked normal usage before .. sorry forgot to mention that under 16%..

diagnostics. Once you've found the cause, of course you can install all those programs you need for normal use. But to find out about your CPU usage, it's best to have a system out-of-the-box, with only the game installed.

And it's really necessary to know what processes use that CPU-time. A rather common case of the SYSTEM process using 100%, for example, mostly is caused by some hardware issue.

Having only 84% system idle time doing nothing is too little. It should be 98% at least.

Download managers are usually bad ideas

I'd toss that. But I'm still missing the gritty details about your choice of motherboard and video drivers.

-> Let's be honest here. That "intel extreme graphics" is not for gaming. And I really need you to tell me what version and date driver you are using on this board.

To help me help you, tell me the make and model of this board.

sound max version 5.12.01.5240(latest for 865 gbf board)
Intel(R) extreme graphics 2 driver (latest for 865 gbf motherboard)

well for playing warcraft intel extreme graphics is enough..(I know its quite old) But i am just a warcraft player..
if u want i can give u the detailed log file of first xp which has macfae installed..(Not the plain xp the other one)

Sorry I disagree.

Games, even WOW will play much better with less CPU load on machines with a real video card. Sorry it took so long to find what it was.

You changed or someone changed a driver version or other software is now different. I know Intel is updating the driver to try to implement more DX features but to do so will tax the CPU. Woah, that's your complaint!

Getting a real video card will cure that issue.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
