Temps have been in the upper 60's lower 70's for the past few days, with lots of sun and blue sky.

A couple of days ago I overseeded and top dressed my yard.

Right now (3PM Wed) it is in the upper 30's and SNOWING LIKE H*LL out there !

At least the birds won't eat up the seed Del. Cheer up, the seed will take. They call that snow " poor mans fertilizer"

I'm here in the high desert of New Mexico at the 4500 ft elevation. There is a major ski area about 40 miles uphill from here. Can see that majestic mountain daily. At 12,000, and snow down to about the 6000ft level. They have about 4 or 5 ft of packed powder at midway on their 90 some runs. The highways are full of cars with ski racks daily.

I prefer sun and clear skies at around 80 f.

Sounds like tough duty!

The 70's in the mountains is about as hot as I like it. Anything below that is great. Below freezing is particularly good since you can bundle under the covers. Frost on the windshield, however, I could do without.

I'm sorry, Del. That's the pits. :-( -NT

I hear your pain...........

78 today
predicted 82 tomorrow, and upper 70's Sat then falling to into the 20's Wed night / Thursday morning.

At least we don't have any precip predicted. And I'm too lazy to do yard work so I don't have that problem anyway. Wink

Hope your seed survives.

Precip is coming Roger. Lots of it.

We finished the back yard leaves today. This weekend if we miss the coming rain, I'm renting a power plugger and use on the front yard, then overseed, and fertilize. Backyard will get it's first dose of Diazinon in 3 years. Last year the fleas and ticks started back, so want to get those nymphs right after hatching which is probably this week. Del is complaining, but I wouldn't mind a couple days of a hard freeze to kill off insect larvae that are probably ready to emerge.

(NT) I was thinking of after the cold came, think the rain is due just before cold air.

No freeze here, James. Got about a two inch snowfall in about 4 hours, and most of it was gone by dark. All will
be gone tomorrow in the upper 50's. Moisture is always welcome in these parts.

Hey, it missed me! Beautiful day today. I hear you have 80's down in Carolinas?[nt]

Since you are in the planting mood Del and just in case you or anyone else on the forum puts in vegetable gardens...

For the Garden..Get a truck load of seaweed. Spread it all around between the tomato plants, etc. You will have the juiciest, biggest tomatos in town. Not only that, they will not need salting at the table.

A Bee Hive helps too. Make sure it has the Queen in there. Toss in a couple of Fish too. Draws the cats to keep the crows away.

Think I'm kidding, ask the pilgrims on the plantation in Plymouth, MA.

Goood Luck.

Hi G,

Never in the planting mood. Don't like to play in the mud. Used to say if I could do it horseback, OK, otherwise leave it to the farmers.

Won't test your suggestions/tips, they'll probably work.

Had bees 'swarm' twice last year, and was very glad when they moved on.

This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don't get any... a true story...
We had a female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked: "So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?" Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard!
