Wow. Such fast. Dogecoin to sponsor Nascar racer

Enthusiastic Dogecoin-toting Reddit users pooled together a chunk of cryptocurrency change to sponsor a Nascar driver at Talladega Superspeedway.

Race cars are expensive to operate, and lesser-known drivers are always scrapping for sponsors so they can get on the track. Up-and-coming driver Josh Wise needed about $55,000 to get his car in the game for the Aaron's 499 race at Talledega Superspeedway in Alabama in early May. Dogecoin cryptocurrency fans banded together on Reddit to make it happen.

Let's savor this for a moment. Among all the Lowe's, M&Ms, and Pepsi-sponsored vehicles, there will a car hurtling around the track at 200 mph with a lovable fluffy Shiba Inu, the mascot of dogecoin, worked into the paint scheme. The only thing that could possibly be better would be a Grumpy Cat car.

It took 67.8 million dogecoins and about a week to reach the $55,000 mark to sponsor Wise's No. 98 car. It helps that one contributor, going by the name of Moolah_ on Reddit, accidentally donated around $15,000 worth of dogecoins, but stood by the mistake.

This isn't the first go around the fundraising track for the dogecoin community. Previously, it raised $30,000 to help send the Jamaican bobsled team to the Sochi Olympics. Another fundraiser collected $30,000 to train service dogs and place them with people in need.

A design competition is under way to choose the look of the car. What we should all be looking forward to is hearing how the announcers attempt to pronounce "dogecoin" on race day. I, for one, can't wait to see the dogecar on the track for the first time. I know what I'll say: "Wow."
