Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of Jan. 19.
Linux lovers will descend on the annual LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York next week, one of two major information technology events on tap. Oracle AppsWorld will also get its share of attention.
Meanwhile, a number of tech notables will be rolling out their quarterly earnings, from Motorola to online-retailing giant Amazon.com.

Logitech International makes computer peripherals. It's expected to report a third-quarter profit of 71 cents a share.
Silcon Graphics makes high-end computers. The company is expected to report a second-quarter loss of 13 cents a share.

- Lucent Technologies is a software developer and a maker of telecommunications equipment. The company expects to report a first-quarter loss of 21 cents a share.
PeopleSoft develops software applications. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 14 cents a share.
Qualcomm is a chipmaker for cell phones. The company is expected to report a first-quarter profit of 37 cents a share.
Siebel Systems is a software applications developer. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 4 cents a share.
Texas Instruments is a computer maker. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 3 cents a share.

- Amazon.com is an online retailer. The company expects to report a fourth-quarter profit of 14 cents a share.
JDS Uniphase is a maker of optical components. The company is expected to report a second-quarter loss of 5 cents a share.
Tuesday, Jan. 21
- Housing Starts is the total of new home-construction projects. The December number is expected to slightly decline, to 1.69 million from nearly 1.70 million the previous month.
Thursday, Jan. 23
- Leading Economic Indicators summarizes previously reported totals such as building permits and unemployment claims. It's expected to fall to zero growth, compared with 0.7 percent the previous month.
