Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of Nov. 2.

Cisco Systems and Qualcomm will be among the few tech companies reporting their quarterly results in the coming week, as the earnings season slows down.

On the trade show front, Gartner's ITxpo in France will draw some headliners, with scheduled keynote speeches from Henning Kagermann, chief executive of software maker SAP, and from Jorma Ollila, head of cell phone leader Nokia.

  • Tech executives and industry players will hear the latest on data warehousing and business intelligence at the TDWI World Conference-Fall, Nov. 2-7, San Diego.

Monday, Nov. 3

  • Beam me up. Upgrading a satellite network so it can use technology for carrying data, voice and video is one of the satellite applications topics to be addressed at the Satcon, the Satellite Applications Technology Conference and Exhibition, Nov. 3-5, New York.

Tuesday, Nov. 4

  • French connection. Discussions on .Net vs. Java and on negotiating application software licenses are on the lineup at the Gartner Symposium ITxpo, Nov. 4-7, Cannes, France.

Wednesday, Nov. 5

  • Networking security, storage and next-generation technology are scheduled to be the focus of Networking Decisions, Nov. 5-7, Atlanta.


Tuesday, Nov. 4

  • Perot Systems is a computer services and consulting company. It is expected to report a third-quarter profit of 12 cents a share.

  • Priceline is an online travel company. It is expected to report a third-quarter profit of 21 cents a share.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 5

    • Cisco Systems is a networking company. It is expected to report a first-quarter profit of 15 cents a share.

  • Qualcomm is a maker of chips for cell phones. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 29 cents a share.
  • Thursday, Nov. 6

    • XM Satellite Radio is a satellite radio service. It is expected to report a third-quarter loss of $1.17 cents a share.

    Monday, Nov. 3
    • Auto and Truck Sales is the total of domestically produced vehicles sold. October auto sales are expected to increase to 5.5 million, from 5.4 million the previous month. Truck sales are expected to remain flat at 7.9 million, compared with the previous month.

    Wednesday, Nov. 5

    • Factory Orders is the total of orders for durable and nondurable goods. The September total is expected to rise 0.6 percent, compared with a decline of 0.8 percent the previous month.

    Friday, Nov. 7

    • The Unemployment Rate is the percentage of American workers looking for jobs. The October rate is expected to remain flat from the previous month, at 6.1 percent.
