Watch man's proposal while free-falling at 10,000 feet

A GoPro camera. A wedding ring. And lots and lots of plummeting. It's the recipe for one truly daring proposal -- and you can watch.

I still remember the day I proposed to my wife. I was the quintessential nervous wreck, complete with sweaty palms and acrobatic stomach. So, I can't really imagine what must have been going on inside 32-year-old Brandon Strohbehn's stomach as he leaped out of a plane with his girlfriend attached to him and then whipped out a wedding ring while plummeting toward the ground from 10,000 feet in the air.

Fortunately, I don't have to imagine it because Strohbehn and his soon-to-be fiance, 29-year-old Nicole Nepomuceno, both had GoPro cameras on their heads to capture the event. I have to admit: Even just watching the video gives me a serious case of the gut flutters. I couldn't imagine taking such a chance with a valuable piece of jewelry -- let alone my life.

Ah, but then I learned the truth.

The ring Strohbehn had with him was just a $9 fake, according to a report on Good Morning America. The real ring was waiting on the ground and was presented to Nepomuceno in proper down-on-one-knee fashion after the duo landed. Still, it's a gutsy move that sets the bar really, um, high for all would-be grooms to come.

Although the proposal between the couple, who had been dating 18 months at the time, took place last summer, the extended video record of the event was just posted on GoPro's YouTube channel today. So strap yourself in, watch the video above and experience what it feels like to ask the woman you love to marry you while hoping the two of you don't die.
