Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.
LeBron James knows that physics is boring.
I know this because he's the star of a new Verizon ad in which he tells a young, impressionable student that he shouldn't worry about sitting in physics class and watching, oh, LeBron James videos.
It's the right thing to do.
The marginally overrated NBA star (disclosure: Golden State Warriors fan) is one of several personalities being featured in Verizon's enthusiastic crowing about its new data plans.
The plans cost more, of course, but you get far more data, which you need in order to avoid studying.
In another ad, Verizon claims that your kids' favorite shows "are coming for your data."
Through the bushes, characters from "Yo Gabba Gabba" -- which appears to be a TV show that prepares your child for how truly frightening the world is -- begin to stalk a child as he sits in a car.
There's a happy ending, of course.
Verizon has also released a fascinating Spanish-language ad in the campaign. It features singer Enrique Iglesias.
He espies a young couple who just wants a little time to themselves and enjoy their first kiss.
But no, Enrique must give them a lecture about how love is like a fire and your data is like a log you put on the fire. The greater your love, the greater your need for data.
This is philosophy of a very high order. This is, indeed, the very opposite of the LeBron James ad.
Here Iglesias wants the young to learn and to prosper. He wants them to blossom and grow, as they educate themselves on life's fine nuances.
Now this is a true role model.
