Last show of the week for us, everyone; but before we go, won't you stay a while and have fun with us?
Oculus and Facebook announced an acquisition this week that's making VR enthusiasts' heads turn. They've purchased Pebbles Interfaces, a small gesture and motion-tracking company based in Israel. Their technology probably won't make it into the first round of consumer Rifts, but it's not a stretch to think Oculus might integrate it into Oculus Touch, or maybe UI navigation in their finalized software.
Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed details of their newest theme park, located in Shanghai, China. It opens next year, and looks to be full of fun and exciting attractions from favorite franchises, such as "Star Wars" and Marvel's cinematic universe. We're not 100 percent sure why there's a "Tron" roller coaster, other than it looks really freaking cool in blacklight.
Lastly, there's a fashion company called Abstract_ out there doing something different for folks looking to stand out: their online store lets customers type in a memory or story they have an emotional connection with, and face-tracking software combined with keystroke data and keywords will create a one-of-a-kind pattern. Once it's generated, that customer can apply the design to any garment in Abstract_'s online store and order it. It's basically your feelings on fabric.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
