'X-Files' reopened in this 21-minute preview video

Fox releases a lengthy preview that takes "X-Files" fans behind the scenes of the new miniseries that will air on Fox in January.

After 13 years, the truth is still out there, and FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully have never stopped searching for it.

Fox released a preview video to the official "X-Files" YouTube channel on Monday, taking fans of the series behind the scenes for an in-depth look at what to expect from Mulder (David Duchovny), Scully (Gillian Anderson), Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), The Smoking Man (William B. Davis) and the rest of "The X-Files" cast in the upcoming season.

If you've got 21 minutes to spare, the clip is definitely well worth a watch to prepare for the return of "The X-Files." The six-episode miniseries is set to premiere January 24 on Fox, immediately following the NFC Championship Game.

Fans will be thrilled to hear that, like all the previous seasons, the upcoming miniseries will have the same mix of mythology-focused stories and standalone monster episodes that made "The X-Files" such a hit. The original series ran from 1993 to 2002.

The clip also serves as a good refresher for those who haven't watched the show in awhile, covering what the X-Files actually are, what drove Mulder to dedicate himself to the X-Files cases and the conspiracy inside the government to keep the X-files a secret.
