The influences of Kill Bill: shot for shot

Quentin Tarantino is no stranger to the remix. Here's a shot-for-shot video that matches up scenes from Tarantino's Kill Bill with other films.

This video may be a year old, but we watched it with fascination. In five minutes and 30 seconds, film editor Robert Grigsby Wilson lined up 45 shots from Kill Bill with the films to which they pay tribute.

Some of them you'd probably have guessed; 1978's Game of Death, starring Bruce Lee in that iconic yellow jumpsuit, for example, is a bit of a no-brainer — but if there isn't at least one shot in there that you didn't realise was a tribute, we'll eat our hats.

The super-cut was made as a response to the second episode of Kirby Wilson's four-part series, Everything is a Remix, which explores the idea that nothing we create is completely original.

Maybe that's true — but that doesn't mean it can't be great.
