There's a lot of pizza in the New York area, so it can be hard to stand out from the pie-providing crowd. But Vinnie's Pizzeria in Brooklyn has managed to do just that by creating a cutting-edge new pizza delivery box.
The box is a pizza. Inside the box is a pizza. It may be the greatest green-packaging innovation of all time. You eat the pizza and then you eat the box, leaving no waste other than the little round plastic thing that keeps the lid of the "box" from sticking to the top of the pie inside.
Vinnie's posted its crazy creation on Instagram a few days ago, showing off the square pizza box with the lid open and a regular round pizza inside. Both the pizza and the box are decorated with cheese and pepperoni. The restaurant describes it as "totally PIEodegradable."
Brooklynites are pretty excited about this pie-in-the-sky dream come true. Vinnie's later posted an Instagram image of pickup orders for pizza-box pizzas, which cost $40 each, all lined up and waiting for fulfillment.
We've seen some ingenious cheese-related restaurant recipes in recent years. Hong Kong eatery Kala Toast introduced the world to a rainbow grilled-cheese sandwich and Burger King Japan was the purveyor of a bizarre burger made with black cheese colored with bamboo charcoal.
About the only thing that could make Vinnie's invention more epic is if Pizza Rat came out of retirement and tried to drag a full pizza-box pizza off to its subway lair.
