Halle Berry sci-fi 'Extant' is Amazon Prime Instant Video exclusive in UK

Amazon's streaming service is the only place Brits will be able to watch the upcoming TV drama, which is produced by Steven Spielberg and kicks off in July.

Amazon has snapped up the exclusive rights to broadcast upcoming sci-fi drama "Extant" in the UK.

The series, which stars Halle Berry, will be available to Brits via Amazon Prime Instant Video -- the new name for Lovefilm Instant in the UK. Episodes will be made available to stream to subscribers the day after they're broadcast in the US, Amazon says.

The first episode of "Extant" will arrive on 10 July. The series sees "Jurassic Park" director Steven Spielberg pick up an executive producer credit, is produced by Spielberg's Amblin Television production company and will be broadcast on the CBS Network in the US. The series focuses on an astronaut (Berry), who returns from a jaunt to outer space inexplicably pregnant.

Amazon's UK streaming service is locked in a bitter battle with rival Netflix, which is busy churning out home-made exclusive drama like "House of Cards".

Are you tempted by "Extant"? Or not convinced? Let me know in the comments.
