Sony Electronics said Monday that it has upgraded two of its Aibo robot dogs with a better brain to make them quicker and more responsive.
According to Sony, two new models will have an advanced central processing unit, called the super core, that will be twice as fast as the previous version.
Specifically, the new Aibo robots will have processors running at 384MHz, doubling the previous speed of 192MHz. Through Sony's 16MB memory stick, the company plans to increase Aibo's ability to handle new software applications.
Sony has been trying to encourage software development for the Aibo by providing software development tools to academia and programmers.
