Apple sent out a wave of invites Thursday morning to an event where the company will show off the next wave of iPhones. The bottom of the invite features the tagline "Hey Siri, give us a hint," and now Apple's virtual assistant is getting a bit creative when iPhone and iPad users out there actually ask her for a clue or two.
More accurately, she's giving a snarky response telling all you impatient souls to wait until September 9 -- the day of the iPhone event -- to find out more.
Currently, anyone who asks Siri for a hint will be treated to quips like, "Why don't you check a rumors blog? That's what I do," or my personal favorite: "You'll have to wait until September 9. I bet you were one of those kids who snuck downstairs to open presents early, weren't you?"
Yes, Siri, I was that kid. And just like the curious child I was in the days and weeks leading up to Christmas as a kiddo, the adult version of me really wants to know what Apple has in store for the next wave of iPhones.
Rumors have it the iPhone 6S will be slightly thicker than previous models to accommodate Force Touch technology (the haptic-feedback tech in Apple's MacBook trackpads) and that it'll have a better camera for shooting photos, videos and, of course, selfies. The new iPhones are also said to include a higher grade of aluminum casing, which should keep them from getting all bent out of shape.
Apple also could use its September event to show off its newest iPads, if a report from Buzzfeed is correct.
But I guess I'll just take a hint (and that hint of lime Siri so gracefully offered up instead of iPhone news), and wait until the event on September 9 to learn more. For now, at least I can bask in Siri's compliment that I'm "cute when I'm desperate for information."
