Short Take: Liberate creates $50 million fund

Liberate Technologies, which makes interactive-TV software, has created a $50 million venture capital fund to invest in pre-IPO interactive-TV companies. Liberate hopes the fund will help seed the fledgling industry. The new Liberate Corporate Ventures fund also announced a $7 million stake in Two Way TV, an interactive gaming company. Liberate, which emerged from Oracle's former Network Computer spinoff, already has stakes in ICE Interactive, Diva Systems and Everypath.
