Put 'geek out' on your calendar: Silicon Valley Comic Con set for April

The second installment of Woz's wildly popular "Age of Geek" event will be even bigger this year, expanding into three additional venues.

Following the inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con in March, which brought 60,000 attendees to downtown San Jose, California, event founder Steve Wozniak promised "Version 2.0 in 2017 will be even better!"

Well, it appears he's delivering on that promise. The dates for next year's event have been set for April 21 to 23 and the confab will expand beyond the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Three new venues will host SVCC events and exhibits: South Hall, The City National Civic and The California Theatre, with more venue expansion plans in the works.

"Where else can you participate in Q&As with a renowned quantum physicist and the cast of 'Back to the Future' in one day?" Wozniak said in a press release. "What an amazing time to be a geek!"

The March event surpassed attendance expectations, with multigenerational crowds waiting in long, long lines to get in. It featured panels, movie tie-ins, cosplay, art vendors and guest celebrities, such as Star Trek icons William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols, Star Wars' Peter Mayhew, Marvel legend Stan Lee and Avenger Jeremy Renner.
