J.K. Rowling takes the wraps off a revamped Pottermore website, along with some completely new details on the history of the Potter family.

Attention all you wizards and wizard-wannabes out there. Your Internet home for all things Potter has gotten a makeover.

J.K. Rowling's Pottermore site has a fresh new look and promises more "Harry Potter" content, including news and in-depth coverage of the upcoming and the play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" that is totally, definitely not a prequel.

The old Pottermore site was a bit clunky due to all sorts of animations and was starting to show its age. The new site has a clean, modern and more mobile-friendly design.

The new design comes at a cost, however, as some fan favorite features from the old Pottermore site had to go, at least temporarily. Gone is the popular Sorting Hat that would sort Pottermore users into the Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff houses at Hogwarts, as is the Patronus test that assigned users a spirit guardian suited to their personality.

Those features will be making their way back to the site soon, according to the announcement page, so you won't have to live too long without knowing what house you belong in or which Patronius is your spirit animal.

The new Pottermore will also feature new content from J.K. Rowling herself.

Speaking of which, Rowling posted a passage about the Potter family that sheds new light on the origin of the Potter name, how the Invisibility Cloak became a family heirloom and why the Potter family was left out of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.

So grab your wands and head over to Pottermore to check out the site's new digs and learn more about the Potters, the Grangers, the Weasleys and the rest of the wacky characters in the "Harry Potter" universe. Just remember to bring your own Sorting Hat.
