Phineas and Ferb to honor 'Shaun of the Dead'

Grab your cricket bat! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will resurrect their popular "Shaun of the Dead" characters in an upcoming "Phineas and Ferb" Halloween special.

Nick Frost and Simon Pegg better have a plan if they want to survive a Halloween with Phineas and Ferb. Universal

The popular animated Disney duo of Phineas and Ferb will meet up with Shaun and Ed (played by actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) from the zombie dark comedy "Shaun of the Dead" in an upcoming Halloween special.

"Here's news, @nickjfrost and myself will be once again stepping into Shaun and Ed's shoes for the #PhineasAndFerb Halloween special. W00t!!" Simon Pegg tweeted this week.

This isn't the first time Pegg has been featured on the hit show. Earlier this month, Pegg joined fellow geeks "MythBusters" hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman on

But this will mark the first time Frost joins his friend and "Shaun of the Dead" castmate on the animated series. While it's safe to say the kid-friendly Phineas and Ferb Halloween special most likely won't take place in the Winchester pub, we're hoping for enough inside jokes to keep loyal "Shaun of the Dead" fans happy.

After all, Phineas and Ferb haven't shied away from making references to pop culture films and TV programs not quite meant for under-age eyes. If the show can get away with numerous "Rocky Horror Picture Show" references, then there's hope for an action sequence of Phineas and Ferb decapitating zombies with their record collection, right?
