Pear Avenue, a Mountain View, Calif.-based company founded in 1998, has jumped into the home entertainment market by releasing its first product, the SEZ System. The high-end collection of consumer electronics consists of a 60-inch high-definition television, two receivers--one for a digital video recorder that can store up to 3,000 hours of TV shows and another for satellite television--a DVD/CD player with 300 DVD discs, and a two-year subscription to EchoStar's DISH Network satellite service. The package, aimed at high-end consumers, starts at $34,000. The company is working to add e-mail and online chat capabilities to the system.
