Martin Freeman began his career in the British version of "The Office" before becoming Bilbo Baggins. Last night, he brought the two worlds together.
You can't be a hero forever.
At some point, your deeds are done and you either go on a book and speaking tour, or find yourself a new career.
On last night's "Saturday Night Live," some of the finest characters from "Lord Of The Rings" were seen in a new environment: polluting the office.
No ordinary office this, but the one where Bilbo Baggins himself, Martin Freeman, first enjoyed the politics of war. He was in the original British version of "The Office," and here he was reprising his role, but with far larger ears.
Here was the Hobbit hobnobbing with the likes of Gandalf and Gollum. The storyline, however, very much reflected "The Office" at its finest.
Perhaps Middle Earth and "The Office" are not so dissimilar. In the end, it's about relationships, power, influence and survival. Fairness and justice don't always reign.
In Middle Earth, though, you wouldn't be able to get away with a Dildo Baggins joke.
