Ohio State marching band turns to outer space for halftime show

For its latest halftime performance, the band paid tribute to our favorite sci-fi epics including "2001: A Space Odyssey," "Armageddon" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness."

The Ohio State University marching band is well known for its elaborate halftime shows. We were blown away two years ago when the band paid tribute to our favorite video games of yesteryear, but Saturday's routine celebrating epic sci-fi movies might be even more impressive.

Arranger John Brennan, who choreographs these incredible shows for Ohio State, used music and imagery from "Independence Day," "Armageddon," "Apollo 13," "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness" to create an incredible on-field show for those attending the team's game against the University of Illinois.

If you look closely, you'll see the Star Trek logo, Mr Spock's live long and prosper salute and a special-effects launch of the Apollo 13 shuttle, and much more.

Safe to say the Buckeyes nailed it with an epic tribute to NASA, space and science fiction. Their football team also nailed it, rolling over the Fighting Illini by a score of 55-14.
