Point-and-shoots these days all have pretty much the same functions, with the exception of a rare few that have carved a niche for themselves. For example, Samsung's dual-LCD compacts are great for those who like to take self-portraits. For Casio, the company's latest camera, the Exilim EX-FC160S, is geared toward golfers.
This shooter employs a 10-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor, which lets golfers record videos at 240fps. This generates a slow-motion clip when played back at 30fps, and the Exilim will overlay lines on the screen to help you determine how good your swing is.
The snapper also has a 5x optical zoom lens, which is widest at 37mm, though most compacts these days come with a 28mm wide-angle glass. Additionally, it can capture still images at a blazing-fast 40fps, albeit at a reduced resolution.
Casio also commissioned Japanese professional golfer Chie Arimura to provide some commentaries in a handbook that comes with the shooter. It will include tips on how to perfect your golf swing.
The EX-FC160S will be available only in Japan when launched on August 27, with pricing to be announced then. The camera will have a limited production run of 5,000 units.
