The site will be the first Motorola regional center in the Asian Pacific that combines manufacturing, research and development, and distribution for its two-way radio and energy units.
The center is also the company's fifth global Energy Systems Group manufacturing facility. ESG is a major business unit of Motorola Integrated Electronic Solutions Sector, whose technology provide the "brains"--or digital DNA--that make electronic systems smarter, more powerful and easier to use.
Motorola injected an initial investment of $10 million to build phase one of its technoplex, which was launched yesterday by Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
The entire technoplex--at almost 500,000 square feet--is expected to be completed in four phases over 10 years.
