More cars get satellite radio

XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite, the two companies trying to convince consumers to pay monthly subscriptions fees to access dozens of channels of satellite-delivered music and news, announced new alliances with some automakers at this week's New York International Auto Show. Both Volkswagen and Nissan will offer a choice of XM- or Sirius-ready radio receivers as an option in select car models. Support from automakers is seen as a key element in popularizing satellite radio. Exclusive XM partners include General Motors, Honda and Isuzu, while Sirius has locked up Chrysler, Ford, BMW, Mazda and Volvo.
