Microsoft announced a slew of new PC games Wednesday, including sequels to the popular role-playing game "Asheron's Call" and strategy game "Age of Empires."

The software giant revealed its PC game plans through next year as part of its International Games Festival, a media and promotional event in Las Vegas.

Upcoming titles include

• "Rise of Nations," an empire-building game similar to the popular "Civilization" series and created by "Civilization 2" designer Brian Reynolds. Release is set for spring of next year.

• "Age of Mythology," a strategy game based on the "Age of Empires" series involving creatures based on Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythology. The game will go on sale this fall.

• "Asheron's Call 2," the sequel to the popular online role-playing game, which will begin beta testing this fall.

• "Combat Flight Simulator 3," a World War II version of Microsoft's popular flying series, scheduled for release this fall.

• "Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs," a sequel to the zoo-management game that adds prehistoric creatures. The game is set to go on sale this May.

• "Links 2003," the latest entry in Microsoft's series of golf games, set to arrive in stores this fall.
